Sergi Solans Keeps Scoring. Real Salt Lake Keep Finding New Ways Not To Win.

Real Salt Lake arrives in Orlando with a striker who cannot stop scoring and a team that cannot stop dropping points.

Sergi Solans found the net again in Wednesday’s 4-3 loss to FC Dallas, extending his scoring streak to four matches and taking him to nine MLS goals for the season. RSL’s league winless run moved to six. They led Minnesota three days earlier and conceded late. Against Dallas, they scored three times and still left with nothing.

Orlando City has its own bruises. Wednesday’s 2-1 home defeat to Chicago followed a 1-1 draw with Cincinnati, leaving the Lions 10th in the Eastern Conference on 21 points. Real Salt Lake sit eighth in the West on 28 points.

Solans has scored in four straight matches. RSL’s MLS winless streak is six.

The Last Meeting Is Almost Useless. Almost.

These clubs have not met since July 8, 2023, when Real Salt Lake dismantled Orlando 4-0 in Utah.

Chicho Arango scored on his RSL debut, Justen Glad added another before halftime, and Jefferson Savarino and Anderson Julio finished the job after the break. Pablo Ruiz produced three assists. Orlando had arrived on a four-game unbeaten run and left having been beaten by four goals for the first time that season. Almost none of the personnel from that night define this matchup now.

Orlando and RSL have met only seven times in MLS, with two wins each and three draws. Saturday is their first meeting in more than three years. There is very little recent head-to-head evidence to hide behind.

Crystal Palace Just Removed One Of Solans’ Supply Lines

The largest change arrived before the plane left Utah. Zavier Gozo completed a $15 million transfer to Crystal Palace this week after producing six goals and five assists in 1,417 MLS minutes. He had also created more big chances than any other RSL player.

That removes more than production. Gozo gave RSL a player who could receive wide, beat the first defender, and carry possession into the final third without requiring elaborate buildup. His departure adds more work for Diego Luna, Zach Booth, and Solans.

Luna finally ended an 11-game scoring drought against Dallas with RSL’s equalizer in the 64th minute. Solans had already scored in the first half. Morgan Guilavogui added another.

Four Straight Games. Solans Keeps Showing Up.

RSL entered August looking for reliable goals. Solans has provided them.

The rookie Spaniard has scored five times in six August matches across competitions and now leads the club with nine MLS goals. He scored against Minnesota on Saturday, then again against Dallas four days later.

His game is not built around spectacular isolation plays. Solans works between center-backs, attacks the space behind the defensive line and arrives early enough in the box that midfielders can play forward without waiting for the entire attack to assemble.

That matters against Orlando because the Lions have conceded 38 goals in 20 league matches, carrying a minus-18 goal difference after Wednesday’s loss. Yahoo Sports currently lists Orlando 10th in the East at 6-3-11.

Orlando keeps finding the goal. Then Comes The Hard Part.

Tyrese Spicer gave Orlando something useful against Cincinnati. Trailing 1-0 at halftime, the Lions equalized three minutes after the restart when Spicer drove through contact and finished. The match stayed 1-1.

Chicago then came to Inter&Co Stadium on Wednesday and won 2-1. Puso Dithejane scored after four minutes. David Brekalo equalized in the 52nd. Robert Lewandowski restored Chicago’s lead in the 69th.

Orlando has Antoine Griezmann between the lines, Spicer attacking from wide areas, and Iván Angulo providing another direct runner. What they have not had is sustained control of matches once the first attacking pattern has been disrupted.

Against RSL, that puts emphasis on the first pass after regaining possession. The visitors have been vulnerable when midfield pressure is bypassed quickly, and the back line has to retreat rather than step forward. Griezmann should spend plenty of time looking for exactly that gap.

Seven Road Games Without A Win. Now Add The Flight To Florida.

Real Salt Lake travel to Florida carrying a seven-game winless run away from home. The sequence includes defeats at LAFC and Portland and a draw at St. Louis before a long August home stretch. Saturday now ends that streak.

The timing is ugly. RSL played Wednesday night in Utah, conceded four, and then had to travel across two time zones for another Saturday fixture. Orlando also played Wednesday, but stayed home.

Pablo Mastroeni has already been rotating through a congested stretch that includes MLS and Leagues Cup. Saturday will be RSL’s ninth match inside a 12-game, 44-day run.

Justen Glad, Emeka Eneli and Aiden Hezarkhani have also been dealing with injuries, thinning options through defense and midfield.

Who Makes Orlando Defend Wide Without Gozo?

Gozo’s departure becomes most visible when RSL has possession in wide areas. Opponents previously had to respect his ability to carry the ball directly at the full-back. That could pull a midfielder outward, opening space for Luna or Solans inside.

Without him, Orlando can defend narrower unless Booth or another wide player can force the same reaction.

That is where readers using the Soccer Betting Hub and Soccer Data Betting can find more than the headline goal numbers. Solans’ scoring streak is real. The mechanism supplying him has just lost one of its most productive pieces.

Betting Analysis

Bookmaker Sportsbook has Orlando City at -106, Real Salt Lake at +228, and the draw at+314. Orlando -0.5 is -108, while RSL +0.5 is -118. The total is set at 3.5 goals, with the over at -102 and the under at -125.

The Orlando price is heavily based on the venue and schedule. RSL have not won away in seven attempts, played a seven-goal match on Wednesday, and then traveled from Utah to Florida. They have also just transferred Gozo.

Orlando’s own league record does not make -106 automatically attractive. The Lions sit below RSL in the overall table and have won only six league matches this season.

The total asks whether RSL’s recent scoring and defensive instability can pull Orlando into another open game. Dallas managed four against them on Wednesday. Orlando have scored just 31 times in 20 league matches.

Betting Lean

Betting Lean: Orlando City -0.5 (-108)

The home field, RSL’s travel schedule, and the loss of Gozo create the cleaner side of the matchup.

Secondary Lean: Under 3.5 goals (-125)

Solans gives RSL a reliable scoring threat, but removing Gozo from the buildup reduces one of the visitors’ clearest routes into the final third. Orlando have reached four combined goals in only a minority of their recent league matches.
