Nashville SC Hasn’t Seen Evander Like This
Nashville SC has built the best record in MLS by controlling games. FC Cincinnati arrives at GEODIS Park with the player best equipped to make control irrelevant.
Bookmaker Sportsbook has Nashville -124, Cincinnati +291, the draw +334, and Over 3 goals -116. My pick is Nashville -0.5 (-124), but Evander is the reason this is considerably less comfortable than the standings suggest.
The Brazilian enters Saturday with 13 goals and 11 assists in 20 appearances, leading MLS in assists and total goal contributions. Cincinnati has scored a league-high 49 goals. Nashville has conceded a league-low 17 goals. Something unusually efficient is about to meet something unusually difficult to disturb.
Can Nashville SC Make Evander Play Sideways?
Pat Noonan’s description of Nashville identified the problem before his team boarded the plane: they can press the ball, defend collectively, possess, counter, play directly, and threaten from set pieces. Cincinnati has no obvious phase it can simply wait out.
Evander’s value is not confined to the final pass. If Nashville’s midfield steps toward him, spaces can appear for Kévin Denkey or runners beyond the first defensive line. If Nashville stays compact, Evander can carry possession into shooting or combination areas himself.
Nashville has already seen the consequences. Evander assisted once and scored the 98th-minute winner when Cincinnati beat Nashville 2-1 last September.

Noonan Saved Miazga For This Trip
FC Cincinnati’s preparation last weekend contains a useful clue. Noonan rested Matt Miazga against Seattle after a congested run of seven games in 22 days. He defended that decision this week specifically because having Miazga available for the build-up to Nashville “made sense.” Obinna Nwobodo was also largely rested, entering only for the final five minutes.
That matters against a Nashville attack carrying several different problems. Sam Surridge has 12 league goals, Cristian Espinoza has 10 assists, and Hany Mukhtar has produced four goal contributions across his last three matches.
What Happens If FC Cincinnati Scores First?
Nashville SC is 10-0-1 at home, has won three consecutive league matches, and sits nine points clear in the Supporters’ Shield race. Cincinnati has only one road victory this season.
But Roman Celentano arrives believing Cincinnati’s performances have been better than the recent points return. After taking five points from Orlando, NYCFC, and Seattle, he said the trajectory is encouraging even though Cincinnati still needs to tighten aspects both with and without the ball.
An early Cincinnati goal would test an area Nashville rarely has to expose: chasing against Evander with space appearing behind the midfield.
The Soccer Betting Hub and Soccer Data Betting guide offer the right lens here. Nashville’s home record is formidable, but Cincinnati’s attacking profile is not remotely that of a typical +291 visitor.

Prediction And Betting Analysis
Nashville’s deeper attacking routes and home control still give it the better 90-minute path. Cincinnati’s defensive volatility is harder to hide once Mukhtar begins finding space around Surridge.
Prediction: Nashville SC 2-1 FC Cincinnati
Betting Lean: Nashville -0.5 (-124)
Over 3 at -116 is tempting, but three goals only return the stake. Nashville has conceded 17 times in 21 league games. That defense deserves more respect than a compulsory fourth goal.
