Michael Page’s Distance Has a New Problem
Michael Page has spent years making opponents fight at the wrong distance. Nursulton Ruziboev presents a peculiar variation of that problem because the 6-foot-5 Uzbek is taller than Page, dangerous in transitions, and coming off a first-round submission of Andrey Pulyaev in June. Page, however, still owns the longer reach at 79 inches to Ruziboev’s 76.
Ruziboev has openly acknowledged what he is preparing for. He described Page as constantly moving with an “awkward stance” and said his camp worked specifically on Page’s distance management and unexpected attacking angles. Ruziboev is two inches taller. Page still has three inches more reach.
The Taller Man Has to Chase
Michael Page’s switch stance, lateral movement and sudden straight attacks punish opponents who follow him rather than cut him off. He has won three straight decisions over Shara Magomedov, Jared Cannonier, and Sam Patterson, showing his style remains effective even when opponents know exactly what is coming.
Ruziboev cannot afford a patient kickboxing match. His strongest route is to pressure Page toward the fence, where lateral exits narrow and grappling becomes available.
That does not require reckless takedown attempts. Ruziboev’s 21 submission victories reveal where his finishing threat becomes most severe, particularly once striking exchanges turn into scrambles.

Michael Page’s Feet Cannot Solve Everything.
The Joaquin Buckley fight remains useful evidence against Ruziboev. At welterweight, Buckley repeatedly closed distance and controlled important portions of the fight en route to a unanimous decision. Ruziboev subsequently returned to middleweight and has won three straight.
Page presents the opposite challenge. He does not need to overwhelm Ruziboev physically. He needs him reaching.
Ruziboev told Uzbek media that he specifically requested a top-15 opponent after beating Pulyaev and welcomed Page when the UFC offered him the fight. There is ambition here, but ambition does not shorten a 79-inch jab.
Our UFC Betting Guide provides additional context for evaluating stylistic advantages against the available price.

One Entry Could Change Everything
Page should control more open-space exchanges because his timing, defensive movement and reach are unusually difficult to reproduce in training. His vulnerability appears when opponents successfully convert striking pressure into grappling control, as Ian Machado Garry demonstrated in Page’s most recent UFC defeat.
Ruziboev therefore needs fewer clean moments than Page. One successful collision can create a clinch, scramble or back-taking sequence.
Technically, though, Page has more ways to prevent that collision than Ruziboev has to manufacture it.
Fight Prediction: Michael Page by unanimous decision.

The Price Leaves Little Cushion
Bookmaker Sportsbook lists Page at -160 and Ruziboev at +140. The favorite’s price reflects the cleaner, minute-winning style, but Ruziboev’s finishing ability prevents this from becoming a comfortable favorite position.
The total is 2.5 rounds, with Over -169 and Under +147. Page has gone to decisions in each of his last four UFC victories, while Ruziboev has enough grappling danger to make prolonged engagement undesirable for him.
Betting Lean
Michael Page -160.
The primary risk is a successful Ruziboev entry that removes Page’s preferred distance and turns a technical striking fight into a grappling exchange. Until that happens, Page owns the more reliable route to winning minutes.
