Marco Tulio Left Luis Felipe Dias a Map
Matthieu Duclos enters his UFC debut with the cleaner physical picture than his recent history might suggest. The 6-foot-3 French middleweight says the health problems that once disrupted his career are behind him and that his training load is now managed according to his condition. Across from him, Luis Felipe Dias has already identified the tactical detail he wants to attack: Duclos’ front-leg kicking game and the space it requires.
That creates the fight’s central problem. Duclos wants long exchanges; Dias wants the distance gone.
One Old Defeat Followed Duclos Home
Dias did not hide where his preparation started. He studied Duclos’ 2024 Contender Series loss to Marco Tulio and said his team worked specifically around the Frenchman’s lead-leg kicks. His stated plan is to close distance, land, exit and keep Duclos from becoming the one applying pressure.
That approach makes technical sense. Duclos owns roughly a five-inch height advantage and a three-inch reach edge, and his striking identity is built around operating from range. UFC lists eight knockouts among his 10 professional wins; Duclos himself describes distance striking as the natural expression of his game.
His advantage is that pressure does not need to mean reckless pursuit. Dias has nine knockouts and eight submissions among 18 victories, so tying Duclos up or forcing scrambles is not a consolation prize. It is another branch of the attack.

Duclos Says His Body Is Back
Duclos’ length changes the cost of every Dias entry. The Brazilian must cross kicking range before his shorter punches and clinch work become useful, and that creates opportunities for straight counters, knees and intercepting kicks.
Duclos’s danger is volume under pressure. His limited UFC statistical sample comes entirely from his Contender Series appearance, where UFC records 6.81 significant strikes absorbed per minute. That sample is far too small to define his defense, but it reinforces why Dias wants to force exchanges rather than admire Duclos from the outside.
Duclos also arrives on a four-fight winning streak, while Dias has won four straight and stopped Yi Sak Lee in the first round of his UFC debut in May. Momentum is therefore not separating them; geography and experience are. Duclos gets Paris behind him, while Dias already knows what a UFC walk feels like.

Seventeen Finishes Complicate the Clock
Their comments point toward the same expectation for very different reasons. Dias said he is “very confident” in his hands and remains committed to finishing rather than simply winning minutes. Duclos was even more direct, saying there is “very little chance” the fight reaches the judges.
Technically, that favors the fighter with more ways to win once the first layer breaks.
Fight prediction: Luis Felipe Dias via second-round submission. Duclos should have the cleaner opening minutes at range, but Dias’ pressure, clinch access and proven submission threat give him more answers once the cage starts shrinking.
Matthieu Duclos vs Luis Felipe Dias Betting Analysis
Bookmaker Sportsbook lists Duclos -115, Dias -105, with Under 1.5 rounds -135 and Over 1.5 +115. The near pick’em moneyline reflects the matchup well: Duclos owns the cleaner range advantage, while Dias carries broader finishing routes.
Betting Lean: Luis Felipe Dias -105. The risk is obvious: repeated failed entries could leave him walking into Duclos’ longest weapons. But at essentially even money, Dias’ ability to turn striking pressure into clinch or ground offense offers the more complete win condition.
