Kat Rader Arrives Two Goals From NWSL History
Kat Rader comes to Lumen Field on Sunday, two goals from the NWSL rookie scoring record. Seattle Reign have conceded once across their three home matches since the summer break.
That puts one of the league’s emerging scorers directly against the part of Seattle’s season that has recently become hardest to disturb.
It also arrives with almost no room between the teams. Seattle occupy eighth place with 28 points. Houston sits 10th with 26, having played one additional match. And Rader can change more than a record on Sunday.
Eleven Has Stood Since 2022
Diana Ordóñez scored 11 goals for North Carolina in 2022, establishing the NWSL rookie record. Rader has nine.
The 22-year-old has become the leading scorer in a Houston team increasingly shaped by young players. Twenty-three of the Dash’s 28 league goals have been scored by players aged 24 or younger.
Houston’s broader attacking numbers suggest Rader will not arrive short of service. The Dash have registered at least five shots on target in seven of eight matches since the summer break, averaging six per game over that span.
Seattle’s home numbers have been moving in the opposite direction.

One Goal Has Crossed This Line
Seattle has taken seven points from their three home matches since the break. Only one opponent has scored.
Claudia Dickey therefore stands between Rader and a record chase that has accelerated into the final portion of the season. Houston’s recent volume presents a different examination from simply protecting a lead or absorbing isolated attacks.
Kat Rader is not the only source. Messiah Bright, Yazmeen Ryan and Avery Patterson are part of a Dash group that has produced 28 goals despite sitting outside the playoff positions.
The Soccer Betting Hub and NWSL Betting Guide provide the wider postseason picture. Here, the table makes the stakes unusually immediate.
Berkeley Will Not Be Beside Them
Houston’s defensive picture changes on Sunday. Malia Berkely has begun maternity leave and will not travel after making 17 appearances this season.
That removes an experienced defender precisely as Seattle begins a three-game homestand, with Maddie Mercado leading the team with seven goals.
It is also Seattle’s final match before Ainsley McCammon, Emeri Adames and goalkeeper Evan O’Steen depart for the U-20 World Cup.
McCammon’s growing role makes that timing particularly significant. Sunday’s Seattle midfield will not be available in the same form immediately afterward.

Linesmakers Leave Seattle Almost Even
Bookmaker Sportsbook prices Seattle at -104, Houston at +250, and the draw at +265. Seattle -0.5 is -106, while Houston +0.5 is -125. The total is 2.5 goals, with the over at -133 and the under at +100.
Houston’s attacking volume makes +250 tempting, particularly with Rader carrying nine goals into the matchup.
Seattle’s home evidence is harder to move past. Seven points from three post-break home matches and one goal conceded provide considerably more support for -104 than Seattle’s eighth-place position alone suggests.
Prediction: Seattle Reign 2-1 Houston Dash
Betting Lean: Seattle Reign Moneyline (-104)
