Iwo Baraniewski Has Never Needed Plan B

Iwo Baraniewski has demolished every professional opponent before the first-round horn. That sounds like evidence supporting -225. That is also why the price deserves scrutiny.

Nine professional fights. Nine first-round finishes. His three UFC opponents lasted 1:29, 0:28, and 1:25. Even his Contender Series appearance lasted 20 seconds. UFC records his total professional fight time at 18 minutes. Iwo Baraniewski has been devastating, but nobody has forced him to solve the second problem yet.

Bookmaker Sportsbook’s opening line makes Iwo Baraniewski -225 and Alonzo Menifield +188, with Over 1.5 rounds +199 and Under 1.5 -240.

Pick: Alonzo Menifield +188.

Menifield Recognizes His Younger Self

Menifield heard Baraniewski discussing how Saturday might unfold and offered something more interesting than the usual veteran bravado.

He remembered entering the UFC undefeated and thinking he would simply destroy everybody. His verdict on that mentality now: “It has to be adjusted.” Then he added: “I’ll show him.”

That matters because Menifield is not proposing survival by retreat. He says this camp emphasized technique in the pocket, with his feet and hips following his punches. He also disputes the assumption that Baraniewski can simply drag him into another brawl.

Nine Finishes Hide One Missing Answer

Iwo Baraniewski knows exactly what remains unseen. He says American audiences have only seen his striking and points to five fights in Poland that he says he won on the ground. Against Menifield, he wants to reveal more of that game.

A problem is buried inside that promise. Menifield owns 78% takedown defense, has 18 UFC appearances, and averages 7:24 of fight time. Baraniewski has never experienced a professional Round 2.

The favorite may possess an excellent Plan B. The market is pricing it before the UFC has seen it.

Bisping’s Prediction Helps the Underdog

Michael Bisping expects another violent, short fight and favors Baraniewski. His reasoning also exposes the price.

Bisping notes that Menifield has been knocked out four times and believes Baraniewski’s pressure will force exchanges. But Menifield has 11 knockout victories and 11 first-round finishes himself. In May, he stopped Zhang Mingyang in Round 1.

So -225 asks bettors to pay heavily for Baraniewski’s unbroken aura in precisely the phase where Menifield remains most capable of breaking it.

Prediction: Alonzo Menifield by first-round TKO.

Baraniewski may eventually prove he has answers for five, ten and fifteen minutes. At -225, bettors are being charged for those answers before anybody has heard the questions.

Betting Lean: Alonzo Menifield +188.
