Indy Eleven vs Louisville City: 1,452 Days and Counting

Indy Eleven’s last win over Louisville came on August 31, 2022. Since then, Louisville has won five of six meetings, including both encounters last season. The most recent finished 2-0 at Lynn Family Stadium, where Amadou Dia and Taylor Davila scored, and Indy still managed 14 shots without finding the net.

Saturday returns the rivalry to Carroll Stadium, where Indy are 6-1-2 in league play this year. Louisville arrive with three useful results behind them: a draw against San Antonio, a USL Cup draw at Tampa Bay that became a shootout win, and last weekend’s 3-2 victory at Orange County.

No player on Indy’s current roster has ever beaten Louisville in this rivalry. Ray Serrano arrives having scored twice against Orange County. Cam Lindley arrives having created six chances at Sporting JAX before his stoppage-time free kick produced Indy’s winner.

What Happens When Lindley Gets a Dead Ball Near the Box?

Indy’s 1-0 win in Jacksonville was not built on sustained attacking dominance. The breakthrough arrived in the 92nd minute after Loïc Mesanvi won a free kick outside the area and Lindley delivered toward the far post. Paco Craig headed it down, the ball went in off Antonio Gomez, and five winless league matches finally stopped following Indy around.

Lindley created six chances that night, taking his season total to 31. He gives Indy a way to threaten Louisville without needing long spells of possession.

That matters on Carroll Stadium’s artificial surface, where second balls and set pieces have repeatedly shaped this rivalry. Louisville used long throw-ins to punish Indy in the 3-1 meeting here last August, scoring twice with headers after halftime.

Indy can return the favor from dead-ball situations. Craig remains one of the USL Championship’s strongest aerial defenders, while Edward Kizza gives the front line another target attacking crosses.

Serrano Has Given Louisville Something It Was Missing

Louisville scored three times from nine shots at Orange County. Serrano supplied the first two, opening each half with a goal. The brace took him to six goals in all competitions and four in league play, while Quenzi Huerman assisted twice.

The timing of Serrano’s runs was more important than the raw total. His first goal came after Tola Showunmi drew attention centrally and created room for Serrano to arrive. His second came three minutes after halftime, before Orange County had settled back into its defensive spacing.

Indy has conceded 21 league goals in 18 matches, exactly the same number they have scored. Louisville has scored 36 in 20.

Can Indy Make Carroll Stadium Matter More Than the History?

Indy’s home record is the strongest counterweight to four years of bad memories in this fixture. The Boys in Blue are 6-1-2 at Carroll Stadium in league play this season and 9-1-2 there since September 2025. Charleston, Lexington, Detroit and Rhode Island have all left Indianapolis without three points.

Louisville’s recent travel load is considerably heavier. The club returned from a road stretch approaching 5,000 miles after playing in Tampa and Orange County, then gets the relatively short trip north to Indianapolis.

Indy’s best home performances have been compact rather than extravagant. Eric Dick has three clean sheets this season and reached 300 career USL Championship saves in Jacksonville. Craig, Anthony Herbert and the central midfield have been comfortable defending narrow leads rather than chasing another goal for decoration.

Louisville’s 3-0 Lead Last Week Nearly Became Something Else

Louisville led Orange County 3-0 after 68 minutes. By the 81st minute, it was 3-2. Orange County kept sending deliveries into the box and forced Louisville to defend the final stretch instead of managing it comfortably. Interim coach Simon Bird got the result, but the ending supplied Indy with useful tape.

Indy does not need to recreate Orange County’s possession. Earlier crosses, second balls and Lindley’s delivery can put Louisville’s back line under pressure without requiring elaborate buildup.

The Soccer Betting Hub is useful here because recent results alone hide the contrast. Louisville’s 3-2 win was its best league victory of the season by opponent standing; Indy’s 1-0 win came against the conference’s bottom side. The Soccer Data Betting guide offers the same warning from another angle: a win is one data point; the route to it tells you far more about the next matchup.

How Much Should Four Years of This Rivalry Cost?

Bookmaker Sportsbook lists Louisville at +103, Indy at +230 and the draw at +280. Louisville -0.5 is +101, while Indy +0.5 is -128. The total sits at 2.5, with the over priced at -153.

Louisville has the stronger attack, the better recent opponent on their résumé, and five wins from the last six meetings.

Indy’s 6-1-2 home record keeps this from becoming a simple continuation of the rivalry. The Boys in Blue have allowed only 21 goals in 18 league matches, while Louisville has conceded 34 in 20.

The total asks whether Louisville’s scoring can outweigh Indy’s preference for tight home games.

Serrano and Huerman arrive with fresh attacking form, and Louisville have scored 15 more league goals than Indy despite playing only two additional matches. Indy’s set-piece threat gives the home side a credible route, particularly through Lindley.

Louisville have been solving this rivalry for nearly four years.
