Hotel Security Only Delayed the McMillen vs Rahiki Fight

Tommy McMillen and Marwan Rahiki nearly started this fight three days early. After weeks of verbal friction, they exchanged shoves at the fighter hotel before security intervened. The useful part is not the theatre. It is what the hostility threatens to do once the cage door closes.

Both undefeated featherweights are natural finishers. Rahiki has stopped all nine professional opponents, eight by knockout. McMillen owns 10 finishes in 11 wins, split evenly between knockouts and submissions. If emotion turns Saturday’s McMillen vs Rahiki into an immediate exchange, Rahiki may be getting exactly the UFC fight he wants.

Rahiki Wants The First Collision

Rahiki has made his intention unusually explicit. Discussing McMillen this week, he dismissed the American’s striking numbers and said his opponent has “never been hit by someone like me.” He also predicted the fight would not reach the second round.

There is evidence behind the bravado. Rahiki stopped Harry Hardwick after two rounds in his UFC debut and Ollie Schmid inside the first round in May. His compact 5-foot-8 frame gives him a lower center of gravity than the 6-foot McMillen, while his 72-inch reach concedes only two inches.

That combination makes the opening exchanges fascinating. Rahiki wants to cross distance explosively and turn McMillen’s longer striking space into a pocket fight. He does not need many clean connections. So far, nobody professionally has required a scorecard to discover that.

McMillen Owns A Second Door

McMillen’s reputation currently rests on violence too. He stopped Manolo Zecchini in the first round before finishing Alberto Montes in the third, earning bonuses in both UFC appearances. But treating him as merely another willing striker misses the wrinkle Rahiki has not yet been forced to solve.

McMillen was a two-time Montana state wrestling champion and has five professional submission victories, including three guillotines. His UFC takedown defense is listed at 83 percent. That grappling background gives him somewhere else to take the fight if Rahiki’s pressure becomes uncomfortable.

The question is whether he will use it. McMillen said this week that he could wrestle opponents but considers that approach boring. Against a man with eight knockouts in nine wins, entertainment can become an expensive principle.

Eleven Fights Have Not Dimmed Him

McMillen’s confidence has gone well beyond Rahiki. He said this week he believes he has the tools to beat anybody at featherweight and volunteered to serve as backup for the forthcoming Alexander Volkanovski-Movsar Evloev title fight.

That confidence matters because Rahiki’s aggression is designed to make opponents retreat or panic. McMillen has shown neither tendency yet. His third-round stoppage of Montes also provides something Rahiki’s nine-fight professional career has not produced: evidence of finishing power after ten minutes. Rahiki has never gone to a decision.

That is where the matchup may turn. If Rahiki cannot produce the early collision he expects, McMillen has demonstrated more routes through a fight.

The Price Assumes McMillen Has Time

Bookmaker Sportsbook opening line lists McMillen -147, Rahiki +127, with Over 1.5 rounds -170 and Under 1.5 +148.

The favorite has the broader toolkit, two inches of height and reach, proven wrestling credentials and more evidence beyond the opening round. Rahiki, however, is dangerous precisely where McMillen appears most willing to indulge him.

Fight prediction: Tommy McMillen by second-round submission.

The technical path is McMillen surviving Rahiki’s first surge, making the shorter man work through clinches and failed entries, then exploiting the neck when Rahiki’s increasingly aggressive pressure creates a grappling transition.

Betting lean: McMillen -147. The Over 1.5 at -170 is less attractive because Rahiki has built his entire professional record on finishes and is openly promising another immediate one. The moneyline allows McMillen’s grappling to rescue the wager if the striking becomes uncomfortable.
