Eleven Runs Bought deGrom Breathing Room

Betting Lean: Texas Rangers -120

Texas scored a season-high 11 runs Monday. Tuesday should require considerably fewer.

Jacob deGrom starts against Anthony Kay, with Bookmaker Sportsbook pricing Texas at -120, Chicago at +106 and the Under 8 at -118. DeGrom enters 9-8 with a 3.77 ERA and 157 strikeouts; Kay is 9-6 with a 3.96 ERA.

The Rangers are the pick because Monday changed the pitching burden on both sides without requiring Tuesday’s offense to repeat the fireworks.

Chicago Paid for Three Urquidy Innings

Urquidy allowed five runs, six hits and four walks while throwing 93 pitches Monday.

That forced Chicago to cover six innings behind him, one day after using four pitchers in Sunday’s bullpen game against the Mets. The ninth became desperate enough for position player Luisangel Acuña to pitch.

Kay therefore takes the ball with more responsibility than his 3.96 ERA suggests.

Longer early at-bats could expose Chicago’s relief workload before the late innings, especially after Corey Seager produced three hits and three RBIs Monday. At the same time, Wyatt Langford and Jake Burger homered.

The MLB Betting Hub matters here because bullpen condition can move a matchup faster than season-long offensive rankings.

deGrom Arrives After No-Hit Pressure

deGrom’s previous start produced his 2,000th career strikeout in a 2-0 victory over Washington, with Texas carrying a one-hitter through the game.

Chicago saw a much easier pitching problem Monday and still managed only five hits. Tristan Peters supplied both runs with his third homer in three games; Rangers pitching then retired Chicago’s final 10 hitters.

The MLB Playoffs Betting Guide becomes relevant now because Texas is no longer merely hovering around the race. Monday moved the Rangers into first place in the AL West. A deGrom start against a bullpen carrying consecutive heavy workloads is exactly the type of game a division contender cannot waste.

Tristan Peters drives a pitch during a previous Chicago White Sox Major League Baseball home game.

Eight Runs May Be Plenty

The total sits at eight.

Texas has the cleaner starting-pitching edge, while Chicago’s best route probably involves keeping deGrom’s pitch count moving rather than producing another high-scoring game.

Prediction: Rangers 4-2 White Sox

Betting Lean: Texas Rangers -120

The Under 8 at -118 is also defensible, but Texas offers the cleaner expression of the pitching and bullpen advantage.
