Denis Bouanga Carries a Heavier Suitcase
LAFC is -109 at Bookmaker Sportsbook, D.C. United +283 and the draw +290. The betting lean is D.C. United +0.5 at -110.
LAFC arrives at Audi Field third in the Western Conference but winless in four MLS matches. D.C. United is 11th in the East and returns home after a 3-1 defeat at Charlotte. The clubs have not met since 2022.
The interesting part begins with LAFC’s luggage. Five of its next six MLS matches are away. Six players are unavailable on Saturday. And Denis Bouanga, already LAFC’s leading scorer, just accounted for 12 of a club-record 33 shots against Portland.
Thirty-three shots should feel like an avalanche. One goal makes it feel like paperwork.
How Much Denis Bouanga Is Too Much?
Denis Bouanga’s 79th-minute equalizer against Portland ended LAFC’s 312-minute MLS scoring drought. It was his 11th league goal of the season and came on LAFC’s 30th attempt of the match.
That extraordinary volume now meets a smaller supporting cast. David Martínez, Jacob Shaffelburg and Timothy Tillman are out, along with Sergi Palencia, Igor Jesus and backup goalkeeper Thomas Hasal. Dos Santos acknowledged Thursday that LAFC is not currently operating with the healthy group it wants.
Son Heung-Min remains the obvious counterweight. His 10 assists lead LAFC, while his four goals provide another finishing threat around Bouanga. But Martínez’s absence removes six goals and three game-winners from the available attack.
Saturday therefore arrives with Bouanga producing enormous attacking volume at precisely the moment LAFC has fewer alternatives around him.

Five Road Games Change the LAFC Picture
Dos Santos has already placed Saturday inside a larger test. After playing five of six at home, LAFC now plays five of its next six away. He described the stretch as useful preparation for the playoffs because eventually contenders have to produce important wins away from home.
LAFC’s road record is 3-4-3. D.C.’s home record is also 3-4-3. The symmetry ends elsewhere. LAFC has conceded only 22 goals in 22 matches, while D.C. has allowed 36 in 21. Hugo Lloris has recorded 10 shutouts in 18 starts.
But LAFC’s current run has introduced another number: 0-7-2 when conceding first this season. When LAFC scores first, it is 10-0-1. That gives the opening goal unusual weight without requiring either side to reinvent itself.
D.C. United Has Its Own New Variable
Louis Munteanu scored his sixth goal of the season at Charlotte and leads D.C. with 50 shots. Tai Baribo has 12 goals, while Keisuke Kurokawa has taken 48 corners. D.C. generated a season-high nine corners last weekend.
Dos Santos specifically mentioned D.C.’s height, direct play and threat from set pieces in his pregame comments.
There is another wrinkle. Nathan Ordaz could face LAFC only six weeks after leaving the club where he had spent much of his development. Dos Santos said LAFC had not made Ordaz part of its formal video preparation.
The Soccer Betting Hub and Soccer Data Betting guide provide the broader numbers behind Saturday’s board. Here, the price comes down to whether LAFC’s underlying quality deserves road-favorite status while its attacking depth is temporarily reduced.

When Does -109 Become Expensive?
LAFC remains the better defensive team and possesses the game’s most dangerous individual attacker.
The hesitation is the price. Bouanga needed 12 attempts last weekend while LAFC needed 33 collectively to score once. Three attacking or midfield options are now unavailable, and this is the first stop in a road-heavy month.
Prediction: 1-1 draw.
Betting lean: D.C. United +0.5 at -110.
