Columbus Crew Have 72 Hours To Reset
The Columbus Crew finally gets home on Sunday. Whether the legs arrive with them is another question.
The Crew host New England at 4:30 p.m. ET after Wednesday’s Leagues Cup quarterfinal in California, their eighth match since August began. They are 5-11-5 in MLS and have gone winless in their last four league games. New England Revolution arrive fourth in the East at 10-7-4 after an uninterrupted week of preparation.
Bookmaker Sportsbook prices Columbus at +118, New England at +227, and the draw at +262. Over 2.5 goals is -144. The early lean is New England +0.5 (-143).
Can Possession Hide Heavy Legs?
Mitrović expects no mystery from Columbus. He described the Crew as a side with a “really strong identity,” built to dominate possession and control games with the ball. Sunday tests how durable that identity is.
Columbus Crew played Nashville last weekend, traveled west for Wednesday’s 2-0 loss to Club América, then returned to Ohio. MLS and both clubs moved this match back a day specifically because of that travel.
New England have Alhassan Yusuf’s midfield running, Jack Harrison settling quickly on the wing and the ability to turn turnovers into direct attacks. Harrison’s work rate has already impressed the Revolution staff as much as his attacking contribution.

New England Revolution’s Road Record Has A Crack
The Revs have won only two away matches all season. One of them came nine days ago, 3-0 at D.C. United.
That makes Sunday unusually revealing. New England’s 10-7-4 record has been built primarily at Gillette Stadium, but Columbus offers the sort of road matchup that could reward a team willing to spend stretches without the ball. The Crew have won only four of 10 MLS home games themselves.
New England Revolution also has Matt Turner behind them. He is tied for third in MLS in saves and has five shutouts, insurance that becomes particularly valuable when an opponent dominates territory without converting it.
How Soon Does Josef Martínez Start?
Columbus signed Josef Martínez on August 13 after a 14-goal MLS season with San Jose in 2025. Three appearances later, he has played only 84 minutes and has yet to start. Sunday may accelerate that integration.
Wessam Abou Ali is out with a knee injury, while Jamal Thiaré is questionable with a lower-leg problem. New England will be without Leo Campana, and Luca Langoni is questionable.
Martínez gives Columbus a penalty-area reference point they have lacked consistently, but his role also changes how aggressively the Crew can press from the front.
The Soccer Betting Hub covers the broader MLS card, while Soccer Data Betting is useful here because the headline records conceal a stark home-road split and a major difference in preparation time.

Columbus Crew vs New England Revolution Prediction
Columbus Crew should own more of the ball. New England may own the more useful moments.
A full preparation week, Turner behind the defense and Columbus’ compressed travel schedule make the Revs difficult to oppose with half a goal in hand.
Prediction: Columbus Crew 1-1 New England Revolution.
Betting Analysis
Bookmaker Sportsbook has Columbus +118, New England +227 and New England +0.5 at -143.
The Crew’s home advantage is offset by an unusually demanding turnaround. New England do not need to solve their entire road problem to cover this line.
Betting Lean
New England Revolution +0.5 (-143).
