Cincinnati Open 2026: Linda Noskova Has The Trophy. Amanda Anisimova Has The Scar Tissue
Linda Noskova arrives with something Amanda Anisimova knows rather well. The expectations that follow a Wimbledon breakthrough.
Noskova won her first Grand Slam title there last month, defeating Karolina Muchova in the final after a grass-court season that also included the Berlin title. She has climbed to No. 7 in the WTA rankings and enters Cincinnati as the No. 6 seed.
Anisimova’s 2026 has travelled in the opposite direction. After reaching the Wimbledon and US Open finals in 2025 and winning WTA 1000 titles in Doha and Beijing, she entered this North American swing trying to recover the consistency that made last season exceptional.
Then, at the Cincinnati Open 2026, she faced Alexandra Eala. Anisimova lost the opening set, trailed 2-0 in the third, and eventually won 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 after 2 hours 28 minutes.
Noskova has the Wimbledon trophy. Anisimova was the last woman to beat her in a final before she learned how to win one. Now they meet again.
Beijing Still Belongs In This Match
Their head-to-head stands at 2-1 to Anisimova. The most recent meeting carries rather more weight than an old line in the record book.
They played the Beijing final last October. Noskova had reached her first WTA 1000 final. Anisimova beat her 6-0, 2-6, 6-2 to take the title. Noskova subsequently finished 2025 with three runner-up finishes before changing that story emphatically this summer.
The first set in Beijing is difficult to forget. Anisimova took time away immediately. Her return position kept Noskova from settling behind the serve, and once the American began receiving shorter balls, the baseline belonged to her.
Noskova eventually changed the match and took the second set. Then Anisimova took it back.
Noskova is a different player now. The Wimbledon run demanded repeated pressure-point execution over seven matches, and the ranking has followed.

Noskova Has Arrived With Less Mileage
Their routes into this round could hardly have been more different. Noskova beat No. 27 seed Clara Tauson 7-6(3), 6-2. One difficult opening set was followed by a much cleaner second.
Anisimova spent considerably longer solving Eala. The American was broken at the end of the opening set, finally found the decisive break in the seventh game of the second, and then immediately fell 2-0 behind in the decider.
Anisimova has struggled against elite opposition this season. She entered the Eala match 1-6 against Top 20 players in 2026 and had lost five consecutive matches against them. Beating Eala gave her only her second Top 20 victory of the year. Now she gets No. 7.
The Baseline May Get Crowded
Neither woman particularly enjoys surrendering ground. That should make the first few shots of each rally unusually important.
Anisimova’s backhand can change direction without advertising the intention. When she catches the ball early, opponents lose time before they lose territory.
Noskova brings heavier serving and enough pace from both wings to prevent Anisimova simply planting herself on the baseline.
Their Beijing matches showed the consequences when either player gets there first. The intriguing part is Noskova’s development since then.
She has become more comfortable staying in points when the immediate attacking ball is unavailable. Wimbledon did not give her seven matches of pristine first-strike tennis. She had to defend, absorb momentum changes and survive matches whose rhythm moved away from her.

Anisimova’s Legs Have Already Had A Long Week
The Eala match introduces another variable. Two hours and 28 minutes is hardly catastrophic at this stage of the season, but the physical cost isn’t measured solely by the clock.
Anisimova had to recover from a set down. She had to recover from a break down in the third. She had to play six consecutive games with virtually no scoreboard margin.
Noskova’s match against Tauson also contained pressure, particularly through the opening-set tiebreak, but she escaped in two.
On Cincinnati’s outdoor hard courts, that difference can appear gradually rather than dramatically. By the second half of a tight match, those inches start appearing on the scoreboard.
The Odds Barely Separate Them
Bookmaker Sportsbook has Noskova at -119 and Anisimova at -103. For a match between the world No. 7 and No. 10, that feels appropriate.
The handicap makes the uncertainty even clearer: Noskova -0.5 games is -112, with Anisimova +0.5 at -109. Essentially, pick the winner.
The total is 22 games, with the over -118 and under -104. That number deserves attention because all three previous meetings have required a deciding set, including Anisimova’s 6-0, 2-6, 6-2 victory in Beijing.
For readers following the final major preparation before the US Open, our Tennis Betting Hub tracks these matchups throughout the hard-court swing, while the WTA Betting Guide provides a broader framework for reading moneylines, game handicaps and totals.
There is very little in this price suggesting Noskova’s ranking should decide the argument.
Cincinnati Open 2026 Is Asking Anisimova A Different Question
Anisimova has already reached the round of 16 at all four North American WTA 1000 tournaments this season, something only Jessica Pegula and Elena Rybakina have also achieved.
The problem has been what happens against the strongest opposition. Her 2025 season created a different standard. Two Grand Slam finals and two WTA 1000 titles turned deep runs from achievements into expectations.
Cincinnati has now put the Wimbledon champion directly in her path. Noskova, meanwhile, is trying to carry a Grand Slam breakthrough onto another surface. Her 2026 résumé already includes the Wimbledon and Berlin titles, plus an Indian Wells semifinal.

Betting Analysis
At -119, Noskova requires little faith. Her recent level has been higher; she arrives with less tennis in her legs than in the previous round, and her serve gives her a straightforward way to keep Anisimova from immediately occupying the baseline.
But Anisimova at -103 is difficult to dismiss. She leads the H2H 2-1. She won their biggest previous match.
And the manner of the Eala victory showed something that has been missing too often this season: she found another level after the match had already started moving away from her.
The total may therefore offer the cleaner angle. All three previous meetings went three sets. Their games naturally produce stretches where one player takes the baseline away from the other, followed by tactical adjustment and momentum moving back.
At 22 games, this does not require a marathon. Two competitive sets may get close. Three should have every opportunity to clear it.
Linda Noskova vs Amanda Anisimova Prediction
Noskova has produced the better 2026. That is hard to argue after Wimbledon. But this match contains history that the rankings cannot erase.
Anisimova has beaten Noskova twice. She has already taken a major final away from her. And after spending much of this season searching for the level that carried her through 2025, she found enough of it against Eala when the alternative was going home.
Lean: Over 22 Games (-118)
