Aldrich Meets a Different Regina Tarin
Regina Tarin won her UFC debut on three days’ notice. Saturday is the first chance to discover what changes when the same undefeated fighter arrives with an actual camp.
Tarin specifically asked for JJ Aldrich and has described this preparation as different physically and mentally after dealing with health, stress, and weight-management concerns. She enters 8-0 after outlanding Ernesta Kareckaite 114-105 with significant strikes over three rounds in February. Aldrich brings a much longer UFC sample, a 15-7 professional record, and consecutive decision victories over Andrea Lee and Jamey-Lyn Horth.
That makes the favorite’s price interesting. Tarin has considerably more evidence to reveal; Aldrich has considerably less left to surprise anyone with.
Fifteen Minutes Changed Regina Tarin’s Evidence
Six of Tarin’s eight professional victories have come by finish, including four knockouts. Her UFC debut therefore supplied something her regional record could not: proof that her pace could survive a full 15 minutes against an experienced opponent.
She landed 37, 31, and 46 significant strikes across the three rounds against Kareckaite. The third-round increase matters here because Aldrich has made a career of extending fights. Tarin’s 7.60 significant strikes landed per minute comes from only one UFC appearance, so treating it as a settled career rate would be statistical cosplay. What it does show is that her aggression did not disappear when the debut went long.
Tarin has also said this camp has allowed people to see a different version of her than during her February short-notice arrival. The MMA/UFC Betting Hub covers the wider Noche UFC card and additional fights.

Seventy Strikes Didn’t Beat Aldrich
Aldrich’s April win over Jamey-Lyn Horth is useful precisely because it was not pretty on the raw numbers.
Horth landed 70 significant strikes to Aldrich’s 50, yet Aldrich still won a unanimous decision. That does not magically make landed strikes irrelevant. It does warn against assuming that Tarin’s higher activity automatically translates into two winning rounds.
Aldrich has now won two straight decisions and four of her last five fights. Her current run is built around durability, composure and surviving enough exchanges to keep the scorecards live rather than chasing an early finish.
The UFC Betting Guide provides additional context for fights in which a favorite’s output must be weighed against an opponent accustomed to long, competitive rounds.
Aldrich Has Already Accepted the Noise
Aldrich expects a pro-Mexican crowd and has said she prepared mentally for the hostile reception. More importantly, she views Tarin’s youth and unbeaten record as strengths rather than evidence that the matchup is already beyond her.
That attitude fits the technical question. Tarin is the taller fighter at 5-foot-7, while Aldrich owns a slight reach advantage at 67 inches to 66. Both fight southpaw. This is unlikely to be decided by a simple stance or reach mismatch.
Tarin’s pace can make Aldrich work harder than she prefers, especially if the Mexican maintains the third-round output shown in her debut. Aldrich’s experience, defense and comfort in long fights make that pace less decisive than the -280 favorite line suggests.
Fight Prediction: Regina Tarin by unanimous decision.

Betting Analysis
Bookmaker Sportsbook opening line has Tarin at -280 and Aldrich at +230, with over 2.5 rounds at -327 and under 2.5 at +265.
Tarin deserves favoritism after an 8-0 start and a high-volume UFC debut, but -280 asks the market to treat a one-fight UFC sample as unusually trustworthy against a veteran coming off consecutive decision wins.
Aldrich’s durability and recent results give the underdog price more room than the favorite’s.
Betting Lean: JJ Aldrich +230.
