Online poker website paddypowerpoker.com is getting ready to give away at least 30 seats for next month’s Irish Open in Dublin.
The poker room has announced that hopefuls can enter its Irish Open 2011 Mega Satellite event on Sunday, April 3, from 20:00 GMT with no less than 30 packages worth €4600 – or approximately $6500 – each available.
The satellite buy-in is €320 ($455), with the successful players taking a seat at the Irish Open 2011, which runs from April 22-25 at The Burlington Hotel in Ireland’s capital city. The fortunate 30 or so will be rewarded with the €3500 ($4975) buy-in, five nights’ lodging at the hotel and travel expenses.
That’s not all, though, as those who qualify for the Irish Open via one of paddypowerpoker.com’s satellites will get a shot at the €100,000 ($142,000) on offer as part of the website’s Sole Survivor promotion – which goes to the entrant who outlasts every other qualifier.
Robert Sherwood was last year’s “worthy” winner after he survived longer than 130 other qualifiers to take the €100,000 prize, as well as €163,300 ($232,000) for a fourth-place finish.
Paddy Power, the communications manager for paddypowerpoker.com, said: “We couldn’t make it easier to win an Irish Open 2011 seat, but we’re having fun trying.
“Rob was a worthy winner last year, but now the question is who will take his place at the Irish Open 2011.”
Meanwhile, Full Tilt Poker has announced their schedule for the upcoming FTOPS XX and Mini FTOPS XX.
Running from April 17 to May 1, the first Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS) XX event is a $200 plus $16 no-limit hold’em multi-entry tournament with a guaranteed prize pool of $3million. The poker room has scheduled 45 events for the two weeks, with more than $38million on offer in guaranteed prize pools. An incredible 13 events will offer at least seven figures in guaranteed prize money.
However, even those big prizes pale in comparison to the multi-entry no limit hold’em Main Event, which boasts an enormous $7.5million guarantee from a $600 plus $40 buy-in. The XIX Main Event paid out more than $8.6million in prize money, so it’s likely that tidy little sum will be beaten on May 1. The event starts at 17:00 ET.
The $10,000 heads-up competition returns, with the number of multi-entry tournaments increased to 15 for no limit hold’em, seven card stud, and pot limit Omaha.
The Mini FTOPS XX series runs from May 8-22 and features a duplicate schedule, but with each event costing just a 10th of the buy-in.
The schedules are not confirmed as complete yet, so more events could yet be added. Details of which Red Pros will host each tournament have also not been announced.
Finally, English star Liv Boaree “can’t wait” to get stuck into the $1million guaranteed Sunday Storm event at PokerStars on March 27 – as she reckons the $11 buy-in is such great value for money.
Being “a bit of an ROI (return on investment) nut”, the 26-year-old “can’t think of a better chance to spin up $11 into a six-figure score”.
Boaree won’t be easy to beat, having won the 2010 European Poker Tour at Sanremo, Italy, in April to pick up a cheque for $1,775,000 and become just the third woman to secure an EPT event title.
Players signed up to PokerStars can secure a seat for free by means of qualifiers that run every 60 minutes or, if you haven’t already been playing at the website, by signing up for an account – and depositing at least $20 – before keying in bonus code STORM.
